“After we purchased our home, we thought we could handle everything. However, with a busy schedule and time for the family, we quickly figured out that we needed help. WHM has given us the ability to forget about the house’s needs and just live in it. They are great and would recommend them to anyone that has a schedule like ours. Keep up the good work.”

Don’t Rely On Neighbors or Friends To Handle Emergency Matters That May Arise:
Many of our clients thought that they could rely on a neighbor or friend but when an emergency occurred, they were out of the area or did not know how to take immediate action. We are experienced to deal with virtually every conceivable emergency that may arise, from an alarm call to a gas leak to a broken or frozen water pipe. We work with local law enforcement and are on call. While these situations are sometimes uncontrollable, we take preventative measures to avoid disasters like these. So, ask yourself, are your neighbors or friends capable of dealing with emergencies when they occur.
Is Your Alarm System Working Properly?
A recent study showed that 50% of alarmed homes in the United States, that were burglarized, the alarm system was not working properly. Make sure your system is services and calibrated two-times per year, including the contacts on windows and doors, especially after a thunder storm with a large amount of lightning. Run a test on your system once a week.
Always Give Your House an Occupied Appearance:
If your house looks occupied while you are away, burglars will assume that someone is home and will move onto the next house. Most burglars are in the business of getting in and out, so give the impression that someone is always home with interior/exterior lighting. Keep the lights on timers and alternate the day and time they go on and off. Keep the radio and television on a timer as well. Rotate blinds and curtains, move the vehicles around, contact the Post Office and Paper Delivery and put it on hold. During the winter, have the driveway and walk way shoveled. Don’t leave a message on your answering machine indicating that you are away. These simple things will give your home the appearance that it is occupied.
Insurance Coverage On Your Unoccupied Home. Are You Covered?
Most Homeowner policies stipulate that coverage is void unless the home is occupied. Insurance premiums can be much higher on unoccupied homes as well. Other factors, such as reduced coverage or cancellation due to vacancy can be averted by having Westchester Home Management perform routine inspections on your home. Check with your insurance agent.
